A Life Well Lived: Remembering Rev. Oluwabukunmi Olanrewaju Oriowo
“From childhood, his smile carried a light that would one day shine across nations.”
On 23rd April 1995, a star was born into the Oriowo family of Iwo-Isin, Kwara State—Rev. Oluwabukunmi Olanrewaju Oriowo. His parents, Engr. Samuel Olanrewaju Oriowo and Mrs. Comfort Abosede Oriowo, welcomed a son who would grow to embody humility, service, and an unwavering love for God.
Sadly, on Saturday 23rd August 2025, at the young age of 30, that shining light completed his earthly assignment and returned to his Maker. Though brief, his life left an imprint that time cannot erase.
His Journey of Education and Growth
“A determined student, both in academics and in faith.”
Bukunmi began his education at ACME Nursery and Primary School, Ojodu Abiodun, and later at Community High School and Uncle Steve Group of Schools. He obtained an OND in Public Administration from Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin (2015).
But beyond the walls of formal education, God was preparing him for higher service. In 2017, he enrolled at the Baptist Theological Seminary, Agbowa, graduating in 2021. He later earned a B.Sc. in Physiology from Bowen University, Iwo (2022) and obtained an International Certification in Human Resource Management.
Knowledge for him was not just about career—it was about equipping himself to serve both God and humanity.
His Spiritual Walk and Ministry
“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” – Hebrews 12:2
From his childhood days, Bukunmi was deeply committed to the things of God—Bible Sword Drill competitions, drama ministry, the choir, youth leadership, and Royal Ambassadors. His gifts blossomed wherever he went.
He began ministry service at Christ Light Church, Ojodu Abiodun, later served at First Baptist Church, Pakuro, and contributed actively at the Hebron Baptist Association.
In 2017, he answered God’s call into pastoral ministry. He served faithfully at First Baptist Church, Eyin-Ogbe, Ikorodu until his final days. On 19th July 2025, he was ordained as Reverend in the Nigerian Baptist Convention under the Lagos East Baptist Conference—a crowning moment in his short but impactful life.
His last sermon, titled “Looking Unto Jesus” (Hebrews 12:2), remains a divine reminder that our gaze must be fixed not on the troubles of this world, but on Christ alone.
His Royal Ambassadors Journey
For Bukunmi, the Royal Ambassadors (RA) ministry was not just a youth activity—it was a training ground for discipline, leadership, and service. From his teenage years, he wore the RA badge with pride, reciting the watchword, and living out its charge: “We are Ambassadors for Christ.”
He rose through the ranks with dedication, serving in various capacities at the church, associational, and even conference levels. His commitment to the RA motto — “We are Ambassadors for Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:20) — was evident in the way he carried himself.
Through camps, drills, mission outreaches, and mentoring younger boys, Bukunmi embodied the RA spirit of loyalty, discipline, and godly leadership. He was not just a member; he was a role model. Many younger Ambassadors still testify:
> “Rev. Bukunmi taught us to love God and to stay focused on our calling. He was patient, firm, but always full of love.”
Impacts Beyond the Uniform
The values he learned in the RA—service, respect, courage, and integrity—defined every part of his adult life. As a pastor, husband, father, and friend, he reflected the RA pledge:
“I will do my best to become a well-informed, responsible follower of Christ.”
His influence spread beyond his local chapter. He inspired Royal Ambassadors across Lagos and beyond, often being invited to speak at RA events, lead Bible studies, and mentor boys becoming young men.
Even in his final days, he continued to champion the RA cause—raising godly men for Christ and reminding everyone that service is our calling.
Remembering Him as an Ambassador
In remembering Rev. Bukunmi, we see the perfect picture of an RA whose journey began in childhood but never ended—because even in death, his life continues to call young people to Christ.
Like the hymn often sung at RA gatherings declares:
“We are marching in the light of God.”
Bukunmi marched well. And though his march here has ended, he has joined the eternal parade of saints triumphant.
Family and Personal Life
Rev. Oriowo was united in holy matrimony with Mrs. Oluwabukunwa Olaoluwa Oriowo (née Oloyede). Their union was blessed with a daughter, Iyimide Eunice Enibukunoluwa Oriowo, who carries forward his legacy of love and faith.
Legacy That Lives On
Though he departed at a young age, his impact will remain eternal. He was known for his humility, discipline, respect, and unwavering devotion to God. To his peers, he was a friend; to the youth, he was a mentor; to the church, he was a shepherd; to his family, he was a jewel.

“My dearest husband, my heart aches with every passing day without you. Our baby girl is growing up without her daddy's loving touch, gentle voice, and guiding hands. I’m left to raise her alone, but your love and legacy live on through her.
Every coo, every giggle, and every milestone she reaches reminds me of you. I see your smile in her eyes, your kindness in her heart. She’s a part of you, a piece of your soul that remains with me.
I wish you were here to hold her close, to whisper sweet nothings in her ear, to watch her take her first steps. But even in your absence, your love remains. I’ll keep telling her stories about her amazing daddy, about the love we shared, and the dreams we had for our family.

My dearest brother, Rev. Bukunmi Olanrewaju Oriowo,
It is hard to put into words the pain of losing you. You were not only my younger brother but also a shining light in our family. It breaks my heart that I will no longer hear your voice, see your smile, or share in your laughter. But I take comfort in knowing that you have gone to rest in the bosom of the Lord you so faithfully served.
Goodnight, my dear brother. Your memory will live on in my heart, and I will hold on to the blessed hope that we shall meet again on the resurrection morning.

Tribute to My Beloved Brother
My dear brother, Rev. Bukunmi Olanrewaju Oriowo,
Words fail me as I try to describe the weight of this moment. You were more than a brother to me — you were my friend, my confidant, and an inspiration. Your life was a true reflection of humility, discipline, and unwavering faith in God.
From our childhood days till the last moment, you carried an uncommon passion for the things of God. You lived a life of service, touching countless lives with your words, your ministry, and your kindness. You showed me and everyone around you that true greatness lies in serving others selflessly.
I will always remember your laughter, your counsel, and your unshakable belief in God’s promises. And I cannot forget the last sermon you preached: “Looking Unto Jesus” (Hebrews 12:2) — “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Those words, which were on your lips in ministry, have now become a message of hope for all of us. You reminded us that in life’s trials, in our faith journey, and even in the face of death, our eyes must remain fixed on Christ, who has gone ahead of us in victory.
Though your time here was brief, your impact was eternal. You have left behind a legacy of faith and love that will continue to guide me and many others.
It hurts deeply to say goodbye, but I take comfort in knowing that you fought the good fight, finished your course, and kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7). Indeed, you are resting in the bosom of the Lord.
Goodnight, my beloved brother, until we meet again at the resurrection morning.
With love,
TIMILEYIN ORIOWO
A Tribute to My Brother My Hero, My Friend
The one who was always there
Strong when I was weak.
Silent, yet powerful.
Kind, even when no one noticed.
You weren’t just a sibling.
You were a safe place.
A teacher in your own way.
A constant presence that made life feel steady.
We didn’t always say it, but I hope you knew
You were loved deeply.
You were respected greatly.
And you’ll be missed beyond what words can hold.
I remember your laugh.
The way you cracked subtle jokes.
The way you showed up — not loudly, but faithfully.
You lived with purpose, and even now, your legacy speaks:
In how we treat others.
In how we hold on to faith.
In how we carry one another in love.
So today, I don’t just mourn you
I celebrate you.
I celebrate your courage, your strength, your quiet sacrifices.
You fought battles no one saw and carried us in more ways than we can count.
Rest, brother.
Not just in peace, but in GLORY.
We will keep your name alive with honor.
With love,
Your Sister
